The SRO no longer collects tobacco licence fees for the Victorian Government

There is no longer a requirement to hold a licence to sell tobacco.

Tobacco requirements

The Victorian Government administers the sale of tobacco under the relevant legislation contained in the Tobacco Act 1987. This legislation is administered by the Victorian Department of Health, 50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.

For any information about your obligations under the Tobacco Act 1987 in relation to the sale of tobacco products to minors and point of sale advertising, please contact the Environmental Officer at your local council.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulates the production of Tobacco products and administers the collection of excise on Tobacco products. For more information, please visit the Australian Taxation Office.
