Career opportunities

We are committed to providing our staff with outstanding training tools to foster high levels of technical and leadership skills. Our professional and personal development activities have garnered widespread recognition but it's our staff members who tell the full story of our success.

Our key goal is to have capable, adaptable and engaged people working for us. We achieve this by selecting skilled and knowledgeable staff, and ensuring that work/life balance, health, safety and well-being, performance and career management opportunities are effectively implemented and utilised by all managers and their teams. Every year hundreds of SRO career opportunities (promotions, transfers and higher duties) are available, and a large proportion of these vacancies are filled by existing employees.

Training and development

Our structured staff learning programs are in place to address the complexities of the taxes and duties we administer in Victoria. Last financial year, each employee completed an average of 5.8 days of training.

We value the professional development of our staff, so we also work closely with registered training organisations to deliver in-house qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This includes the Certificate IV in GovernmentAdvanced Diploma in Management and Graduate Certificate in Management. Our staff can also be given financial support and leave to undertake additional studies, such as the CPA Australia Program, in addition to on-the-job training and attendance at conferences and seminars.

Leave and work/life balance

We understand the value of work/life balance and offer a range of flexible work and leave options to suit your needs. These include annual leave, flexi-time (Grades 1-4 only), sick/carers leave, parental leave, long service leave, purchased leave and leave without pay. Social responsibility

We are an active corporate citizen and our social responsibility committee enables our people to participate in community-based activities and support charitable organisations and events, including beyondblueVery Special KidsRoyal District Nursing Services AppealJeans for Genes Day, the Lost Dogs Home and the Fred Hollows Foundation.

Environmental awareness

We are committed to reducing the impact of our activities on the environment. We have an established environmental committee and a green policy of programs and initiatives to reduce our environmental footprint, raise staff awareness, promote car-pooling and public transport, and participation in World Environment Day and Earth Hour.

Active social clubs

Our social clubs hold regular happy hours, trivia nights, competitions, and other entertainment across both Melbourne and Ballarat offices.

All the revenue we collect is directed back into the Victorian community to fund schools, roads, police, hospitals and other essential services. We are proud of this responsibility and strive to support our people so they can provide the best service for customers and their representatives.
