Do you need to lodge an FOI request?
Often, there are alternative ways to access documents without the complexities associated with an FOI request.
For instance, we already publish much information about SRO business on this website. Many queries can also be addressed by phoning our call centre on 13 21 61.
If you are still considering lodging an FOI request, please contact SRO Information Officer Sue Kaufmann: phone 03 9628 0228; fax 03 9628 0576; or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I lodge an FOI request?
Requesting access to documents under the provisions of the Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act) must be made in writing and should be addressed to:
State Revenue Office Victoria
GPO Box 1641
MELBOURNE VIC 3001
Make sure you clearly describe the documents to which you seek access and include either a cheque for the statutory application fee, or evidence in support of waiving the fee (e.g. valid Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card). There is no prescribed application form and cheques should be made payable to State Revenue Office.
From 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018, the statutory application fee for lodging an FOI request is $28.40.
If you are making a request on behalf of another party, please include a signed authority from them to show us you have their permission to obtain the requested information.
Upon receipt of a valid request, the SRO is required to provide an access decision as soon as practicable, but no later than 30 days after receipt of the request. In some cases, this time may be extended. Additional access charges may apply.
