You must register with us within one month of becoming the operator (but not the owner) of a category 1 public car park to avoid penalties.

The owner/s of the car park must also register and can nominate you to receive the annual returns, assessments and other correspondence on their behalf.

  1. Gather required details

    You need the following information to complete the Application for registration as an owner or operator of a car park for Congestion Levy, but refer to the form for specific instructions:

    • Business trading name, ABN/ACN and State Revenue Office customer number, if applicable.
    • Owner/s of the car park space.
    • Details of representative such as your accountant, if applicable.
    • Address details of any premises containing a car park space that you are nominated to operate, the size of each space and when it commenced as a public car park.

Next Steps

After registering, you will receive an annual return each November. You must complete the return and send it back to us by 21 January the following year so we can calculate your assessment. Assessments are sent out mid-March.

If you no longer operate, or you start operating, a public car park, you must notify us within one month of that happening.
