Pay an assessment notice
You can pay a windfall gains tax assessment notice by credit card, BPAY or electronic funds transfer.
Deferral of windfall gains tax
Please note that you also have the option to defer your windfall gains tax liability.
However, if you wish to pay your assessment, please see the options below.
Credit card
To pay by credit card, select ‘Windfall Gains Tax’ from the ‘Revenue Line’ drop-down menu on the credit card payment page. You need:
- a current Visa or Mastercard
- the Customer Number and Reference Number on your assessment notice.
A card payment fee of 0.45% applies to all credit card transactions.
BPAY
Pay directly from your cheque or savings account using your financial institution’s internet or telephone service. Please note that BPAY payments may take up to 3 days to be cleared.
You need the Biller Code and Reference Number on your assessment notice.

Electronic funds transfer (EFT)
You can transfer your payment to us online directly from your cheque or savings account. Our bank account details and the payment reference number you should use are on the assessment that we issued to you.
Overdue windfall gains tax notice
It is important to be aware there are a series of debt recovery processes that may be undertaken if your windfall gains tax assessment remains unpaid.
Pay windfall gains tax shown as outstanding on a clearance certificate
You can pay the amount of windfall gains tax shown as outstanding on a property clearance certificate by credit card or BPAY, or via your electronic lodgement network operator (ELNO). Contact your ELNO for further instructions.
If your windfall gains tax has been deferred, interest will be accruing on a daily basis. You may need to get an updated interest calculation to fully pay your liability if you don’t make payment on the day the certificate is issued.
