The 2024-25 annual reconciliation will be available from 19 June 2025 and must be completed and lodged with any amount owing by 21 July 2025.
All businesses registered for payroll tax must complete the reconciliation online via PTX Express at the end of each financial year. It should take about 30 minutes to complete.
What you need to do
If your entity has changed employer type during the financial year, ceased to employ, or your contact details have changed, click the 'update your records' tab in PTX Express before 19 June 2025 to change your details. We will endeavour to update your records before you lodge your annual reconciliation.
If you registered for payroll tax in the past 12 months on an annual cycle, you will be unable to access PTX Express before 19 June 2025. You can still notify us of any changes by contacting us.

Changes to payroll tax threshold
From 1 July 2024, the payroll tax-free threshold changed from $700,000 to $900,000 for annual returns, and from $58,333 to $75,000 for monthly returns.
From 1 July 2025, it will increase from $900,000 to $1,000,000 for annual returns, and from $75,000 to $83,333 for monthly returns.
There will also be a phasing of the threshold for every dollar of wages above $3,000,000, and businesses with Australian wages above $5,000,000 will not receive any payroll tax-free threshold.
