Frequently asked questions

Westpac branch

This option is now only available if your land tax assessment notice displays it as a payment method. If it does, you can pay at any Westpac branch by providing the teller with these details:

  • BSB: 033 222
  • account number: 170110 (SRO Land Tax Revenue Account)
  • the first seven (7) digits of your Assessment Number.

While payment can be made at any bank, other banks may charge a fee.

If you are paying at a Westpac branch, you must take in your original assessment notice that has the Westpac payment reference on it. Overdue notices cannot be paid at a Westpac branch unless you also take in your original assessment notice with the Westpac payment reference on it.

Australia Post Billpay

You can pay your land tax in person at any Australia Post outlet if your assessment lists this as an option and you must take your land tax assessment notice with you.

Have you received an overdue land tax notice?

If you have received an overdue land tax notice, it is important for you to understand what you need to do next and by when to avoid incurring further interest and recovery action. There are a number of options available for paying overdue land tax assessments.

It is important to be aware there are a series of debt recovery processes that may be undertaken if overdue land tax notices remain unpaid.

Hardship relief

If paying your land tax will cause you to suffer serious hardship, you can apply for hardship relief. Your obligation to pay your land tax does not in itself constitute serious hardship.
