Booking platforms and owners/tenants (that accept short stay bookings directly without using a booking platform) must register for the short stay levy.

From 1 January 2025, the short stay levy applies to short stays (any stay less than 28 consecutive days) in Victorian properties.

If you have already registered, no further action is required.

We may investigate and recover unpaid levies plus penalties if you don’t register and pay on time.

You can also now download a template for the booking spreadsheet you need to submit when you lodge a return via our short stay levy portal.
