The temporary pause on livestock duty will end on 30 September 2026. Approved agents, vendors and owner’s agents should prepare to resume paying duty on sales made from 1 October 2026.

Pay your livestock duty

Options to pay duty when you lodge your return or statement.

Credit card

You can pay your livestock duty online using a current Visa or Mastercard.

Use the payment reference listed on your assessment or return submission receipt.

Select the relevant option from the ‘Revenue Line’ dropdown:

  • Sheep and Goat Duty
  • Cattle Duty
  • Swine Duty

A card payment fee of 0.45% applies to all card transactions. Fees are not charged for other payment methods.

BPAY

Pay directly from your cheque or savings account using your financial institution’s internet or telephone service.

Use the biller code and reference number, which appear on your assessment or return submission receipt.

Electronic funds transfer

You can transfer your payment directly from your cheque or savings account.

Use the payment reference and bank account details listed on your assessment notice or return submission receipt. 

Overdue assessments

If you want to pay an overdue assessment, you can apply for a payment plan of up to 12 months.
