How to register for My Land Tax

This video provides an overview of how to register for My Land Tax and update your details.

If you own land in Victoria that may be subject to land tax register for our online portal My Land Tax to make sure your home is listed as exempt, your property and personal details are up-to-date, and to view your land tax assessments.
It’s quick and easy – registering takes less than 5 minutes.
Visit sro.vic.gov.au/mylandtax then select the ‘Register for My Land Tax’ button.
Next, select from the options and enter your customer number, along with an assessment number, then select ‘Next’.
At the My Details page, enter your contact details, choose your land tax assessment delivery method, agree to the terms and conditions, then click ‘Register’.
You’ll receive an email to confirm your email address. If you don’t receive it, please check your junk or spam folder.
Select the link in the email and you’ll be prompted to create a password for your My Land Tax account.
Log in with your email and password and you’ll reach the My Land Tax dashboard. Next, select ‘Manage properties’. Here you can add a property if it’s not listed, and manage your existing properties, including nominating your home for the principal place of residence exemption.
Your home is exempt from land tax, so it’s important you complete this step.
If your home is not listed as your principal place of residence, go to the dropdown list next to your home. To apply it as your principal place of residence, choose ‘I live here or intend to live here and want to apply for the principal place of residence exemption’.
If you are in the process of building your home, you can apply for the exemption here if you’re not claiming it on another property.
You can return to the dashboard at any time by selecting the ‘My Land Tax’ link at the top of the screen.
It’s also important to verify your personal details, including your postal address, even if you’ve chosen to get electronic assessments.
Select ‘My profile and land tax accounts’, then ‘My profile’, to update your personal and contact details.
You can return to this screen at any time to update your details or change the delivery method for assessments.
